💬Dot Phrases

What they are: Natural language triggers that insert pre-built blocks of text into your notes.

What they're for: Eliminating repetitive typing for commonly used clinical language or verbally stating unnecessary information during the visit. When you use a dot phrase, ScribeAI inserts your full template and then automatically replaces any normal findings with abnormal findings captured from the visit transcript.

Example: You say "normal physical exam" - ScribeAI inserts your complete standard physical exam template, then cross-references the transcript and replaces the relevant normals with any abnormal findings documented during the visit. You get a complete, accurate physical exam in seconds.

Common use cases:

  • Normal physical exam templates

  • Standard review of systems language

  • MDM framework

  • Medication reconciliation templates

How to set up Dot Phrases:

  1. On the home page, click Dot Phrases

  2. Create a phrase name (e.g. "normal physical exam")

  3. Paste or write the template text you want inserted

  4. Click the blue square to save - use it in any future note by saying the phrase name

Tip: Make your trigger phrases unique and easy to pronounce. Avoid using numbers (e.g. 2,4) - they may add to transcript as text rather than numerals and will not trigger the dot phrase.
